Iranian Nuclear Plant to Be Built Under IAEA Supervision
He said several IAEA missions would visit Bushehr this year. "We intend to build a power station under strict observance of IAEA as it is a matter exclusively of peaceful uses of nuclear energy," Afarideh said.
"Iran is a member of IAEA so we follow all the rules of the agency and its experts regularly visit Iran," IRNA said.
The head of the Iranian parliamentary committee said the construction of the nuclear power plant with the participation of over a thousand Russian specialists is 'proceeding well'.
The U.S. administration accuses Iran of its nuclear program allegedly having a military use and urges Russia to curtail cooperation with Tehran in the nuclear area.
The Iranian authorities refute these accusations and stress that the construction of the nuclear power station in Bushehr has peaceful purposes only.
Russia also states that the results of its technical assistance to Iran in the nuclear area cannot be used for military purposes.
Spokesperson of IAEA Melissa Fleming said representatives of IAEA had already visited the nuclear power plant in Bushehr. However, regular inspections of the facility four or six times a year will be started after nuclear materials are supplied to the station, she said.
